untitled

personal favorite from this year's penang floral fest photos. currently using this as my screen wallpaper.

also, this is the first outing with the teleplus mc7 2x macro teleconverter + smcp-m 50mm f1.7 lens combo - after a few months of owning these. i'm guilty of under-utilising my lenses...

liveview loop

not sure what the rectangle in the image really is. i simply set the camera on remote liveview mode and display the feed on my lappie, and then set the lens to closest focus and point it at the onscreen video feed. essentially the camera keeps on re-capturing what it has just seen a moment ago, but what actually is it seeing in the first place? the rectangle is moving around, fading in and out of view - sort of like a screensaver animation. a jerky animation, that is - due to the crappy framerate of the usb liveview feed. hmm...

A Slice of Rainbow

haven't done an abstract set of photos for quite some times now. if you haven't figured it out already, these are photos of the reflective surface of a cd-r disc. photos dated august 9th were shot under natural daylight, using a disc containing burned data. photos dated august 10th were done in total darkness using a single white LED as the light source, with a new unburned cd-r (silver imation disc).

seems that it's quite hard to get violet color captured, not quite sure why. although i can see the violet portions of the reflections, the camera somehow sees it differently and fails to capture most of it...

_shift

look carefully, there's a circle of light just above the arrow. seemed that a speck of dust somehow made it's way into the lens...

Kek Lok Si, Penang 2008 • Off-Focus

above: flames from a colony of pineapple-shaped glass jar candles.

flames from rows of pink lotus-shaped candles...

fireworks tree. err.. what's a fireworks tree? i don't really know what it's called, but it's a blinky metal setup not unlike a coconut tree which tries to simulate the lights from a fireworks shooting up and breaking into colorful bursts... got it?

this is from the decorative lights at the pumpkin garden near the pagoda...

lastly, burning flames from bunches of just-lighted joss sticks...

if these are not to your taste, check out previous post for more "normal" photos... :p

I can't say

a series of experimental photo shoots, featuring my evil twin :p...

sometimes, the hardest part in creating a photo is not the shooting or post-processing, but in coming up with a title that best convey what a photo is trying to express...

as in this case, i can't think of a suitable title for it. "I can't say" is actually the title of the song that i was listening to at the time, by YUI.

disclaimer: any near similarity in sound or pronounciation to any other names are purely coincidental and unintended. really. seriously. ok, whatever.
