untitled

just noticed that i skipped the whole month of july without posting anything, and about to pull the same stunt with august as well. so... in the interest of not letting this blog die (does anyone even visit anymore?), let's dig up some old photos that i haven't posted before.

sorry, photographer's block :p - no inspirations lately. i hope none of my lenses started sprouting precious fungi yet...

anyone can help with the flower name? the closest look-alike that i can find is yellow gazania, but i'm pretty sure this is not from the gazania family.

st. mary's basilica in bangalore, india. there are a lot of interesting sights inside the church worth photographing, but generally i do not feel comfortable snapping photos inside there while many people are praying (although there isn't a mass in progress); thus i don't have much photos of the interior. this photo was taken from the outside, zooming in.

squirrel

subjects like this really highlights the limitations of a compact camera - there's hardly any details at the fur areas, only a mess of colors. and this is at the lowest ISO even...

Main Gate @St. Mary's Basilica, Bangalore

photo taken from inside the compound of the church. the wikipedia page has a photo of the gate taken from outside the gate looking in, showing the same image at the other side of the gate that i didn't notice when i was there - else i would have taken the photo from the other side, with the church building at the background...

another attempt at HDR processing... taken under a gloomy evening sky. this is actually two photos stitched into one, due to lack of wide angle lens :(

Kempe Gowda Tower @Lal Bagh Garden

the kempe gowda tower in lal bagh garden is one of the four towers that was constructed by Kempe Gowda II to mark the boundary of ancient Bangalore. it is sited on a unique historical rock formation, and is supposed to be the south tower, although present day bangalore extends beyond the boundary marked by these towers.

and yes, i went to lal bagh garden for a walk-around - but not much photo from there, because it f*cking rained on me before i even finish circling the lake, let alone visit most parts of the garden. another reminder that monsoon season is coming...

parking stones

stones to demarcate the parking lots, or to prevent vehicles from slotting in?

Bangalore Palace

bangalore palace - with the entrance fee at rs.200 for foreigner, it's seriously not worth it for such a short tour with nothing much to see really. well, unless you're interested in the nude paintings hanging everywhere inside there, that is... apparently the place is under renovation, as evident by the many furnitures and others messily strewn all over.

not much photo as well, as i refused to pay the exorbitant rs.500 charge for camera usage. wtf... however, the tour guide conveniently asked for a little bribe in exchange for closing one eye on me taking photos in upstair areas with not many visitors present.

one of the (non-nude) paintings hanging on the wall. i'm told that all the paintings are done by the previous rulers.

no photos of the palace exterior either. for some reason that i don't understand, i'm warned not to take photos around the outside of the palace. why? uh.. how do i know. it's an open area, and there's no such signboard prohibiting photo-taking. plus, the place is regularly used for various functions and events, what's to prevent people from taking photos?!

and lastly, a photo with me in it - just so you know i'm still alive...

Hudson Memorial Church

didn't have a good chance for photography as there's some sort of function going on, plus the many trees around make things hard without a wide-angle lens...

a rose a day

there's a stalk of rose placed in the bathroom, which is replaced with a fresh new one everyday. however, it's always a yellow rose. why yellow? probably due to yellow being a royalty color.

there was one day that someone forgot to add water into the vase after replacing the rose, and when i woke up the next day, it was all limp and sooo dead. coincidentally, i was having a bad headache the previous night. talk about bad omen...

i wonder if they'll charge me extra if i request to have a different color of rose every day? hmm...

btw, according to blogger, this is post #100 on frozen fate.
